cosa-fare-in-maremma-locanda-terenzi-mare

Sea lovers will certainly appreciate the Argentario cape. It is almost an island embracing the mainland, where crystal waters merge with historical towns like Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole making it one of the most charming areas of Tuscany, and probably the best of Maremma.

In Porto Ercole and in the nearby Cala Galera it is possible to rent boats for daily trips to small bays that can hardly be accessed by land and to the beautiful islands of Giannutri and Giglio. Ferries from Porto Santo Stefano also lead to the islands.

Orbetello is a suggestive town by the sea connecting the Argentario cape with the mainland together with two strips of land, Giannella and Feniglia (tomboli della Giannella e della Feniglia), where there are extensive equipped beaches.

Feniglia is an area protected mostly by a natural park that visitors can only access on foot or by bicycle. The vast pine forest overlooks the uncontaminated sandy beach.

And finally Capalbio, an enchanted village at the borders with Latium, charming visitors with its medieval atmosphere. The artist Niki de Saint Phalle created here the famous Tarot Garden (Giardino dei Tarocchi ).

Active people can make a new experience going out fishing with local fishermen who involve tourists in their daily activities and then sell fish in the local market.

Other modern resorts include Marina di Grosseto, where the quality of summer tourism was recently improved thanks to a new port and Principina Mare, a town in the middle of the Parco dell’Uccellina (Uccellina Park), also known as Parco Naturale della Maremma (Maremma Natural Park) a beautiful pine forest. Finally the wonderful beach of Alberese and the suggestive cliff of Talamone.

Mountain lovers will certainly enjoy the cone of Monte Amiata, an evocative landscape with forests made of precious woods like beeches, firs, chestnuts and rich of edible mushrooms like porcini growing in the summer.

In the winter skiing is possible in the major resorts of Monte Amiata, Vetta, Prato della Macinaie, Prato della Contessa, Rifugio Cantore and Pian della Marsiliana.

There are also historical sites dating back to VI century B.C. , still visible in the towns of Monte Amiata.

Middle Age castles (Arcidosso, Montelaterone, Piancastagnaio), the abbeys of the Norman and Longobard period (Abbadia San Salvatore, S. Antimo), the Sforza villa of Castell’Azzara, the Bourbon del Monte palace in Piancastagnaio, renaissance and baroque churches in Castel del Piano witness that different civilizations and cultures met in this territory during the surprising history of southern Tuscany, at the borders between Tuscia and the Papal State.

If you are searching for something that will give you the sensation to fly, but that will let you stay close, something that will bring you where the dolphins swim, but without stress..If you are searching a pleasure to share, but only after living it, a reason to stay with friends who will not ask you who you are or what you do in your daily life, but only how much wind there was and if you had the right board or the right kite…If you are searching for that, come here with us to furrow the sea. In a week you will be one of us.

Here at Talamone champions who train are Alessandro Di Benedetto, Lorenzo Giovannelli, Erik Volpe, Francesco Minutello, the Fullkite Team, Andrea Beverino, Giovanni Santostefano, Pierluigi Capozzi, Simone Santoni, Luca Marcis, Simone Vanucci, Andrea Stefanini train.

The sports association Kite Beach Fiumara was born in Marina di Grosseto in 2003 through the efforts of people united by love for the sea, for the sport and the desire to cultivate his passion for kitesurfing in a natural environment unique . In the heart of Maremma, on the edge of the WWF of San Felice, which is built around the torrent of San Leopoldo, between Marina di Grosseto and Castiglione della Pescaia, we managed to bring together a pristine natural environment, with kite surfing and windsurfing.

The area dedicated to kite surfing, wind surfing and beach relaxation was made in full respect of the natural environment, with facilities and equipment made of wood and natural materials.

One of the main features of the Maremma territory are the Wildlife Reserves: Burano, Diccia Botrona and the magnificent Parco Naturale dell’Uccellina. Wild and rough hills descending to the sea with sandy and uncontaminated beaches and distinctive cliffs, surrounded by marshes, pine woods, cultivated fields and pastures.

The territory of the Reserve stretches along the coast of the Tyrrheanian Sea from Principina a Mare to Alberese and to Talamone and its borders on the east side are defined by the railway line Rome – Livorno.

Once you enter the Reserve, both in Talamone or in Alberese you will be immediately transported into a completely different world, almost unreal, yet just two steps away from the comforts of the modern world.

Starting from the mouths of the river Ombrone, where Butteri (the cowboys of Maremma) can be found, it is possible to go to the inland and meet buck and doe deer, wild boars, badgers and foxes as well as wild cattle producing high quality milk and meat. Many birds also chose this territory as their home, while migrants stop here to rest and feed during their journeys. Flora is also rich, with Mediterranean fan palms, sand bushes and pines that either grow spontaneously or are implanted to protect the environment from marshes and landslides.

Major ancient buildings, like the beautiful abbey of San Rabano and the Uccellina tower, should not be forgotten in the entire territory of Maremma, from Fonteblanda to Talamone and Alberese.

Tombolo della Feniglia is a sand dune area within the Maremma Grossetana (Maremma under the Grosseto jurisdiction), near the town of Orbetello and few kilometres from Capalbio. It is a sand dune connecting the Argentario cape with the mainland and separating the sea from the lagoon with a beautiful pine forest in the middle. The Tombolo is a protected area and some specific places are observation points for the WWF.

Feniglia Tour

You will not need to be a proven ornithologist (the lagoon is a privileged observation point for many species of birds) to make a nice bicycle ride along the Feniglia dune; families with children will be in touch with nature in an oasis of tranquillity.

There are two very visible entrances; one entrance is on the side of Orbetello going to Porto Ercole and one on the side of the Aurelia way, near Ansedonia (take the first exit to Ansedonia on the Aurelia if directed to Rome). A bicycle rental is also available here. The ride is 6 kilometres long, completely flat and winding across the forest with views on the beach and the uncontaminated lagoon. On the side of Ansedonia you can also meet deer so be careful not to scare them.

Uccellina Park Tour

An 8 km bicycle path goes through the park. Alberese APT info point is a good starting point, as many bicycle rentals are available nearby. Riding through the park will give you the chance to go across the pastures of typical Maremma cattles driven by Butteri (Maremma cowboys), the bushes where you will see deers, wild boars and different kinds of birds and finally end up on the beautiful and uncontaminated Uccellina beach, where you will find refreshments.

The Baths of Saturnia, with sulphurous waters and a 37°C temperature all year long, are among the best in Italy (hydrotherapy, beauty parlour, stress management, diet and physical training). Well-being of guests is their main goal.

Saturnia Baths

The Saturnia Spa is a group of springs located in the town of Manciano, just a few kilometers from the village of Saturnia, in respect of which are located in the valley below the south-east. The thermal springs that feed the baths affect a vast territory stretching from Mount Amiata to the Fiora and Albegna Hills, reaching the Maremma and Talamone.

Osa Baths

Are by the sea, near the fortress of Talamone and the Argentario cove. The Tuscan archipelago (Giglio Island, Montecristo, Pianosa, Elba) and Ansedonia are all easy to reach from here; in Ansedonia there is evidence of the remains of the city of Cosa, an ancient Roman settlement.

Petriolo Baths

Are near the borders with the province of Siena and were built in 1404. They are the only remains of fortified baths and the Walls and Towers of the Republic of Siena can still be seen nowadays. The new baths are surrounded by the wonderful Valle del Farma, a young natural reserve between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto.

Many cites have a long history and interesting buildings like Massa Marittima and its cathedral dating back to the XII century, Grosseto and its Medicean Walls, Castiglione della Pescaia with its fortress, Capalbio and many other.

Information about this land dates back to the times of the Etruscan people witnessed by beautiful villages in the valley of tuff: Sorano, Sovana and splendid Pitigliano.

A visit to these villages and to the numerous Etruscan tombs cannot be missed.

Roman settlements can be seen in Saturnia, Vulci, Cosa and Ansedonia.

Golf Club Toscana

Between olive groves and towering cypress trees, in 1999 the Briton Keith Preston established one of the most attractive golf courses in Italy. Set in the middle of the green hills of the Tuscan Maremma, the course captivates with its impressive views. The 18-hole par 71 course conforms to international standards and, in 2003, was named one of the top ten new golf courses. The various greens call for skill, versatility and concentration. The Championship Course is the venue for many Pro-Am and international competitions, such as the Faldo Series Italian Championship.

Argentario Golf Club

The Maremma is a striking land that stretches between the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and Tuscany’s rolling hills. Among its most exclusive locations is the Silver Coast (Argentario), famous for its crystal-clear waters and wild nature.

Thanks to a mild climate, the Maremma and the Argentario offer a wide choice of activities that can be enjoyed not only during the summer, but throughout the year. Located between Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano, just minutes away from the sea, the Argentario Resort lies in a protected Mediterranean oasis. It offers a strategic location for those wishing to visit local attractions as well as art cities like Rome (140 km), Siena (120 km), Florence (180 km) and Pisa (200 km).
